Perspective

As I went to Costco for the third time in the past two weeks, the forth time to the supermarket and still wondered if I’m ready enough for the impending disaster that’s facing us all, I began to think am I being selfish?
Thank god My pantry and freezer are filled and I have plenty of toilet paper rolls in my house. What about the people who can’t afford all these things that we are running to buy... the poor, the feeble, the weak? And that’s only the tip of the iceberg...
I’m able to go into public bc thank god I have my health. What about the people who’ve been stuck at home bc of “an underlying condition”... people who’ve been home bound for weeks bc this virus could be a death sentence for them... I know few of these people and I’m sure you do as well.
Who would have imagined that in 2020 we would have our very own blockbuster movie playing right in front of us, and we’ve been hired as the main actors...no need for Spielberg’s imagination here. This is truly the stuff that movies are made of.
I continue to hear comparison between the Black Plague and Corona... the Black Plague that took place in 1347!!! Look at all the technology and medical advancement and yet, we’ve all been brought down to our knees w fear or at least the fear of the unknown!
So who is in charge? Certainly not me. And not you.
And maybe this is god way of sending us all a message. Be a little kinder. Speak a little nicer. Judge a little less. Do one more good, even when you don’t feel like it. (Gd knows there’s so many times I don’t feel like it!) Maybe stop all the divisiveness between us whether about religion or politics.
And maybe, just maybe, everything happens for a reason and we can still get up everyday and be thankful and grateful for another day- because no matter how scary things may seem, there’s ALWAYS something to be grateful about. And sometimes it’s because of darkness that we can see the light a little brighter.
And if we know of anyone who needs groceries or medicine or whatever, maybe put it out there. Tell someone. We should all do something kind. I know so many who have and it’s been amazing to watch.
